Willow '03 (3of3): After Pursuant, An Interlude
A muffled crash had Chris' head craning up, moving so his flat brim tilted to eclipse the afternoon sun. He narrowed his gaze, eyes tracking.
Another crash. He came to a stop on the boardwalk, glaring across the street at Ezra's room. It'd come from there.
Chris studied the building opposite him, trying to decide if he should run over and prevent any trouble or wait to see if the noise happened again.
A flash of white appeared in Ezra's window. He bore his gaze into the glinting pane, trying to get a handle on what he was seeing.
Ezra, in his white dress shirt. Backed into the wall, part of his body hidden, most of the rest of it flanking the window.
Chris growled low in his throat, an unconscious sound, then his hips swiveled as he prepared to cross over and charge into the saloon and up to Ezra's room.
Not but a second later his plans were changed, the scowl replaced by an amused smile.
A hand had appeared around Ezra's waist, tangling in the white fabric. Almost as white was the man's bare ass cheeks now revealed, winking for a moment at the street below, the unaware bustle of townsfolk going about their business as usual.
The next moment Ezra was turning, Vin's lean form entering the frame of the distorting glass in hot pursuit.
One of Ezra's hands surged up Vin's naked chest to tangle in the long hair, the two stumbling as they met for a heated kiss.
Ezra's other hand fumbled briefly with the curtain, then it fell in a sweep across the window and the unwitting display was gone.
Vin had gotten home only minutes ago, pausing just long enough from nearly running towards the back of the saloon to nod at Chris as he made his way down the street.
Vin had been gone overnight. Chris breathed out a low chuckle, remembering the tracker's steady eyes holding his, voice even with the question: 'A whole damn day?'
If he hadn't known Tanner better he'd never have seen the desperate, unwilling light streak by in the eyes holding his - would never have heard the warble of whine and complaint tingeing the flat drawl either.
He should have figured.
Chris shook his head, amused smile still playing around his lips and returned to his original destination. Long, lanky legs crossed at the ankles stretched out onto the boardwalk in front of the jail, holding Buck upright in the chair precariously balanced on one foot.
He shook his head again, remembering when he and Buck had been like that - so hot for each other to the point of near recklessness. Not that Ezra and Vin were being purposefully blatant - it was just they were both in such a hurry and so damned horny they likely forgot, if only for that moment.
Chris' smile grew when warm blue eyes caressed his. He settled into the chair next to Buck's, that warmth spreading through his body like a country waltz when his lover's arm stretched casually to rest on the back of his chair, sure thumb pulling a touch of 'hello' across his shoulders as it traveled.
He let the sensations continue to zing though him, though no one would be able to tell from looking at him. Or from observing them together, for that matter.
They were so comfortable and good together it was rare to have that urgency that drives everything else away.
Chris smiled at Buck, loving the satisfied expression and cocky wink that sailed his way. His groin tightened, the thumb stroking a small, hidden circle at his shoulder.
He grunted to cover a chuckle. They did indeed still know that urgency - knew it well. They'd just figured out how to hide it better.
Buck's open laugh called his attention back to the man.
"Vin glad to get back to Ez then?" The grin was knowing, equal parts happiness and salaciousness.
Chris nodded. "Yup. Reckon he was." The brief answer echoed nothing of the matching expression in his hazels, the confirmation of why he'd stopped on the street before making his way to Buck's side.
"Good. That's good." The voice was low, a murmur of contentment.
He nodded. "Yup. Reckon so."
Buck's exasperated grin changed as blue eyes took him in, flickering with sensuous fire, promises for later.
"Damn glad ta see you, Chris."
Chris nodded back. He knew exactly what Buck meant. That after sitting here long enough they'd make their separate ways then meet up in his room and love each other senseless.
He wondered if five minutes was enough. Blue eyes asked him the same thing.
Chris smiled. "Yeah. Damn glad to see you too, Buck."
